SACRED ARCHITECTURE THE GEOMETRY OF LIFE
Michael Rice (Ireland) will be in Perth on the 20th April 2015 to deliver a stimulating evening presentation on Sacred Architecture and The Geometry of Life.
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
Sacred Architecture brings the Heart of the Earth into the Hearth of the Home. It can be defined as the Art and Science of designing and constructing buildings which create, support and enhance life and living systems.
During this talk, Michael will introduce and demonstrate the pure principles of how Nature uses specific patterns, forms and proportions (Sacred Geometry) to generate all that we see in the natural world, and all we can manifest in the built one. He will show how our bodies perceive the world around us, at a sensory level, and why we are particularly attracted to and positively affected by objects, places, people and situations that are fractal, harmonic and beautiful. He will explore how the ancients used this knowledge to build their sacred structures and how we can use this vital information to design and construct our own sacred space at home or place of work. This seminar is for anyone who wishes to consciously affect change in their environment in alignment with the geometry of life itself.
Michael Rice is a practical visionary, sacred architect, master geometer, natural designer, builder, healer and teacher. He skilfully bridges the old and new worlds to support people to connect with and express their deepest purpose and fullest potential in order to manifest beauty and harmony in their lives. He is a gifted seminar leader who is able to enthusiastically present and share powerful ancient wisdom and new transformational information in an easy and accessible way to allow people to enhance their innate creativity, access their bliss, and create a better world for all.

SACRED ARCHITECTURE and THE GEOMETRY OF LIFE
What is Sacred Architecture?
Sacred Architecture can be defined as the art and science of designing, building and inhabiting spaces which create, support and enhance life and all living systems. It is a timeless design protocol and practice that is based on the pure principles of how Nature creates life. All of our experiences with spaces and places are processed through our sensory and nervous systems. The quality of those experiences define how we feel and act in our world, and generate the behavioural responses that we call our ‘life’. It is all about our ability to perceive, relate to and engage with our world.
Recent studies and new understandings are helping us to rediscover what the ancients and modern indigenous tribes have known forever - that we are not separate from our environment. We are intimately connected at every level, and as we shape our spaces, so too do they shape us. In fact, it is being estimated that perhaps as much as 95 percent of our sicknesses and ailments are due to stress from our relationship with our spaces and our worlds.
So Sacred Architecture is a holistic and natural way of engaging creatively and harmonically with the energetics of our built surroundings. A fundamental aspect of Sacred Architecture is the conscious application of the vast world of what is known as Sacred Geometry - the Divine Blueprint of Creation, which fractally maps intent into form, creating life and health.
Why are you calling it ‘Sacred’?
The word ‘Sacred’ has a few different meanings, depending on context. Most people think of it as referring to something spiritual or containing some religious context. Both are true to some extent, but when referring to Architecture the prefix ‘Sacred’ takes on a new and perhaps deeper meaning. When waves come together and are able to maintain / sustain a particular way of being together, without the need for an outside controlling force, then we can call this structure ‘sacred’. In effect, it has the ability to maintain the integrity of its form regardless of the ‘external’ energetics. It has its own centre and sense of self, within the larger field of harmonic inclusiveness. ‘Sacred’ is what we call a pattern that knows who it is, can connect to become part of a larger field, and can maintain and enhance its individuality and centre, whilst continuing to contribute to the whole.
Does Sacred Architecture have anything to do with ‘Feng Shui’?
A very good question. The words ‘feng’ and ‘shui', which when combined together describe the ancient Chinese Art of Placement, can be roughly translated as meaning ‘wind’ and ‘water’, or energy flow and containment. This is actually a very poetic description of the basic principles of Sacred Architecture. ‘Chi’ is the name used to define and describe the life force / energy that forms and fills, moves and meanders from, to and through all living structures. Another way to imagine this energy is to think of it as an electro-magnetic field which expresses as a continuously changing flux contained within a space. So in simple terms, a space can be thought of as having ‘good’ feng shui when this energetic movement is flowing well, and is able to be held and utilised appropriately. This is the essence of Sacred Architecture. Both approaches are seeking the same goal - to harmonise life and generate beauty and truth.
Why is it important?
It is important because for several billion years on this beautiful planet Nature has perfected the science of life; using certain shapes, proportions, patterns and growth algorithms to allow consciousness to come into form and explore and express its fullest potential. We are an integral part of this amazing process of becoming, but we have to some extent forgotten this divine role, opportunity and responsibility. We have over the last several thousand years built and lived in spaces which no longer support us, and in many cases are actively making us disconnected, and in many cases, actually sick.
This presentation and subject is important because each and everyone of us has the natural ability to perceive and create beauty, and each of us should have the opportunity to do so, not just for ourselves, but for all life on Earth. This is a vital part of how we are going to move forward as a people, and manifest a world where we can all live in sacred space, in harmony with all life.
It is important because the entire surface of this planet is the living membrane of the Mother Earth. This sheath of life and biological awareness is not very healthy in this time, primarily as a result of what we as a species are doing on it and to it, and the structures and forms that we are choosing to build on it. Our cities and ‘living’ environments generally represent a toxic stress on Her ability to delicately balance the needs of all life forms on her skin. By designing and building using the principles of Sacred Architecture, we can remember how to work more consciously with Her, and co-create places and spaces where Her Life Force can enter, embed and evolve.
What will I learn there?
On the evening presentation you will be introduced to the basic principles of how waves of energy and information come together to create form, and how these forms come together to create life. You will learn how consciousness arises from this primary impulse and how our experiences of being in a body, and being in a space are all connected. You will learn what happens to us when we perceive and interact with Beauty, and how to apply this knowledge to create even more of it - in our hearts, homes and places of work.
On the one day seminar in New York, you will take this knowledge and understanding to a deeper level, with the opportunity to draw the geometric patterns that underpin all aspects of Sacred Architecture, and also explore more practical ways to apply the pre principles to affect positive change in your home.
I am not an architect or design professional, so is there any point in coming to this event?
Absolutely. This presentation was developed to support, inspire and empower people to take back their innate ability to generate beauty in their environments, and to affect great change in their lives. It is for everyone. Design professional will also greatly benefit from this presentation, as it will enhance their knowledge and abilities in ways that they can not yet imagine. In my experience most designers wish to develop their awareness and serve their clients in all ways possible. Sacred Architecture invites them to consider that their primary client is Earth, and that ultimately they (and their ‘clients’) are in service to something bigger.
Does Sacred Architecture insist on everything being Eco and ‘Green’, such as all the building materials and energy supply and waste systems?
Sacred Architecture invites inquiry and rewards an open mind and heart. It offers a natural protocol and holistic understanding of how to design consciously with a fuller awareness. It never imposes and insists, but does present itself as a pathway to a healthier way of building and living. Part of this information and knowledge includes what building materials are best to use for construction and finish. Another part concerns the choices of how to power, ventilate, heat and cool the space, as well as how to manage waste. However, in order to design and build a so called ‘living’ environment it is necessary to have some better understanding of what life actually is, not just its inherent properties and what it does. So one definition of life is ‘the ability to fractally attract and self organise electrical charge’. If we consider this for a moment, then we begin to understand that any space that is seeking to be considered healthy or ‘eco’ needs to be able to self organise electrical fields into some symmetry that life recognises and can connect with. The shape containment of the space plays a huge role here, but so too do the choice of materials. Ideally we would use materials that remember how to work with life; such as earth, straw, wood, hemp, stone etc. Similarly, how we work with these materials and substances plays a role also. So to answer the question, Sacred Architecture seeks to provide a basic understanding of how life forms, moves and evolves, and offers ways to practically utilise this knowledge to design and build spaces that are a full colour spectrum approach not just limited to one colour - Green!
Do I need to bring anything to this seminar? (Note: This question is only relevant to the One Day Sacred Architecture Seminar in New York)
Yes. As this is a practical seminar we will be learning how to draw the basic geometry of life, and how to use this process to become more aware of how Nature uses shape to generate life. So you will need to bring a drawing pad of clear paper - A3 is best if possible. You will also need a good quality drawing compass, a straight edge / ruler, some pencils / fine pens, and if you like some colouring pencils, but these are not so vital. The quality of the compass depends on your budget but a better compass makes the whole process more enjoyable.
What is Michaels experience, and is he qualified to speak about this subject?
Michael studied architecture in University College Dublin and became a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland in 1994. He formed his own practice in 1998, and has in this time designed and seen built over 500 buildings in at least 12 countries. He is a student and master of Sacred Geometry and has been practicing, teaching and consulting on Sacred Architecture for last 30 years.
Will there be any practical information or suggestions in this presentation that I can immediately implement in my home?
Yes, you will discover how to apply this knowledge to create very cost efficient ‘sacred’ changes to your spaces - which will help you to develop increased awareness and sensitivity to the energies of your built environment. When we become more sensitive to our homes, and the energetics that they contain, we enter into a new and more relationship with our space. This is the beginning of creation of sacred architecture. On this presentation you will see some practical examples of how this is possible and what you can do when conscious human focus meets physical and energetic space.
Is it a problem that I live in a ‘normal’ space?
Most of our buildings and spaces are not designed or constructed with sacred consciousness, and this is considered normal. Many of us live in Apart-ments, which in some aspects are meant to keep us ‘Apart’! But it is worth noting that sacred space begins within each of us, and extends out into our world with our love and openness. It is completely true that if we are in peace and feeling connected then any space you are in becomes more sacred. In this context we all have the ability to change the whole energetics of any space with our biological awareness and intention. However, when we can affect positive change in our environment by design and construction, our space begins to help us and support us in new ways.
